Average Analysis
Simple Average
This analysis computes the average (arithmetic mean) for various question type. Select one question, and the analysis takes care of the rest. If it is a numeric or single ratings question, a single number is returned. If a ratings scale matrix question is selected, the average is computed by each row in the matrix. Here is the summary:
- Numeric Question: outputs a single number average
- Single Ratings Question: outputs a single number average
- Matrix Ratings Question: outputs a average by each row in the matrix
- Multiple Choice: output the average of the choice data (first choice takes a value of 1, the second choice a value of 2, and so on)
Average by Category
For the Average by Category analysis, you input two questions or fields, one numeric and one multiple choice. The analysis outputs the average of the numeric question by each choice in the multiple choice question.
For example, say that in your latest online survey, in one question you asked the average importance of a specific feature for one of your products and another question you asked, as a multiple choice, their age category. This analysis would output the average importance for the feature by category. This would tell you if there are any differences in the importance of this feature by age.
