Integrating Survey Responses with Your Data
In this video you will learn how easy it is to integrate data to use in your survey's question and analysis.
For example, a retailer wants to know how preferences and satisfaction varies by customer characteristics. The retailer can use a customer table with name, email, average spend, age, and segment. All these characteristics can be integrated with your survey results very easily. Let's see:
After logging in to Mineful, go to survey and create a new survey. Give the survey a name, choose to upload data to use in my survey, and click next. Use the browse button to find the Excel or CSV file to upload. Notice that the customer list file has been uploaded so we click on Next.
Select all the data fields you will use on your survey questions or analyses. In this case, we'll choose name, email, average spend, age, and customer segment. Since this is a customer list with emails, we'll tell Mineful it is a Respondent List. We'll come back to explain when would one choose a general data file. Select the required email column if not already found by Mineful and click on Create.
Now, start creating our survey. For details on creating surveys see our Creating Surveys video. You can add data-driven text into your questions. For example, you can personalize a question with the customer's name. To do this: select the data field you want to integrate on your question's text and hit the Insert Field button. If the customer's first name was Mary, then the question would display as Mary, how satisfied were you with your last visit to Electric Store? Finally, save your question when you're done.
After you have finished writing your questions, you can go to survey Options to change colors, upload a logo, and other options. You can
preview the survey to make sure it looks and feels exactly the way you want. Finally, when ready, go to Publish to send the survey.
For details on sending surveys see our Sending Surveys video.
Once your customers begin responding, you can analyze responses according to the customer characteristics uploaded in the file. Simply go to dashboards, select a layout, and add the analysis of interest. For this example, we'll cross-tab overall satisfaction by segment. Execute the analysis and voila! My chart is created.
Suppose you do not have your customer's email or characteristics, but still want to gather feedback regarding your products. You do have a products table like this one with product ID, name, category, and price that you want to use in your survey analysis. By integrating a products table with your survey, you can analyze customer feedback by each product characteristic. Let's see how this works.
In this case, we'll tell Mineful that the uploaded file is a general data file. Now there are 3 things you need to provide: First, select the data field of interest. In our case, we'll use product name. Second, we write the question that will connect the survey responses with our product characteristics. For this example we'll choose to displace choices with a the dropdown menu. As you see, the first question of the survey has been created. Once the respondent chooses an answer to this question, any product information will be integrated with her responses. The process afterwards follows exactly the same as if you would've chosen the
Respondent List.Using a products table as a general data file is just an example. Other uses might be uploading a sales order table with coupon or warranty id codes, advertising characteristics data, and many more.
